Rosberg disappointed after aiming for pole
[SinglePic not found]Nico Rosberg said he was disappointed not to be challenging for pole on Saturday after winding up fifth on the grid.
He was the fastest driver during Friday practice but when it came to low-fuel qualifying his Mercedes was off the pace. He said his expectations had been set very high coming into the session but the softer tyres, used by all the front runners, had proved to be problematic in the hot conditions. Schumacher admits to being a bit ‘rusty’
[SinglePic not found]Michael Schumacher admitted he is still “a little rusty” on his first day back in Formula One, after spending three years in retirement.
Schumacher was outpaced by his younger team-mate Nico Rosberg in both practice sessions and was quite clearly struggling to find a good set-up early on. He said that he expects to struggle for qualifying pace this weekend but was happy with the car over longer runs.

Teams accept FIA’s decision on McLaren wing
[SinglePic not found]Official protests from rival teams are now unlikely after McLaren’s controversial rear-wing design was declared legal by FIA officials in Bahrain.

De la Rosa plays down tyre performance reports
[SinglePic not found]Sauber driver Pedro de la Rosa has played down reports that his team may have a tyre advantage over its rivals in Bahrain for the opening race of the Formula One season.

McLaren wing declared legal by FIA
[SinglePic not found]McLaren’s controversial rear wing design has been declared legal by FIA officials in Bahrain.
The FIA agreed to look at the wing after Red Bull’s Christian Horner admitted it had been causing “a bit of fuss” in the paddock. The FIA’s Charlie Whiting had intended to check the design at McLaren’s Woking headquarters last week, but after flight delays from Brazil opted instead to leave the inspection until the day of scrutineering for the season opener. Heidfeld: New Red Bull’s pace is ‘frightening’

Without a seat on the grid this year – after parting company with BMW-Sauber and being overlooked by McLaren-Mercedes and Mercedes Grand Prix despite in-depth discussions with both – Heidfeld subsequently signed up for the latter to act as test and reserve driver, in the hope of re-launching his active career in the top flight in twelve months time.
