Alonso and Ferrari romp to victory in Bahrain

Fernando Alonso drove a superbly judged race to emulate Nigel Mansell and Kimi Raikkonen, as he sped to victory on his debut for Ferrari in Sunday’s Bahrain Grand Prix. Alonso chased Sebastian Vettel’s fleet Red Bull fruitlessly in the early stages, when both were running the super-soft Bridgestone tyres, but had an advantage after they had respectively switched to the harder compound on Laps 17 and 16.

Massa comes back with a bang
[SinglePic not found]Felipe Massa returned to Formula One qualifying as if the life-threatening head injuries he suffered last time he fought for pole position had never happened.

Ferrari are in a confident mood for the season ahead after the F10 passed its final winter test with flying colours. Drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa both enjoyed top-three placings during last week’s four-day session at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya and reliably completed over 400 laps of the Spanish track.

The former Brawn driver became Britain’s tenth world champion in a fairytale season last year, but he insists his victory was a team effort and even the best drivers cannot win a title singlehandedly.

Alonso believes the Ferrari is the ‘best car’ of his career

Despite McLaren topping the times at Jerez, Fernando Alonso has warned that the Ferrari is yet to show its full potential.
His best time at the test in Spain was 1.5 seconds slower than the McLaren, but he told AS newspaper “there is no reason to be pessimistic” with another test to run in Barcelona next week. He also said that he believes than the Ferrari F10 is the best car he has ever had.
